Kavas Tacos + Tequila: Daily 3 to 6 PM, at the Bar

Kavas runs happy hour every day from 3:00 to 6:00 PM, at the bar only, and it is not available on holidays or special events. Drinks: house margaritas in lime, strawberry, mango, passionfruit and watermelon at $6, plus half-price margarita pitchers, half-price beer and half-price house wine. Food is priced item by item from $2 to $8: House Salsa & Chips $2, Grilled Street Corn $3, Black Bean Empanada $3, Beef Empanada $3, Chicken Flautas $4, Kavas Queso $6, Guacamole & Chips $8, Mini Cheese Quesadilla $8. Kavas also runs a Taco Tuesday and a full weekend brunch menu, but publishes no pricing or times for either.

Rocco's Tacos: $5 Across the Board, 4 to 7 PM

Rocco's runs happy hour daily from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on a flat $5 menu, at the bar and select high tops only. That covers $5 beers, wines and liquors, $5 margaritas in house, watermelon, jalapeno, volcanic and skinny, $5 tacos in pollo, cochinita achiote, carne molida and hongos, and $5 appetizers including totopos, Austin queso, quesadilla and flautas. Tuesday is all-you-can-eat tacos for $27.99 with $7 house margaritas and $5 beers. Bottomless brunch runs Saturday and Sunday until 4:00 PM at $17 for all-you-can-drink mimosas, bloody marys or rose, and it requires an entree purchase.

Kavas or Rocco's

Kavas opens an hour earlier and is the cheaper table if you are eating lightly, with chips and salsa at $2 and street corn at $3, though its drinks are $6 for a house margarita rather than $5. Rocco's is simpler and later: everything is $5 including the tacos, and the window runs to 7:00 PM. For Taco Tuesday, Rocco's publishes a real number at $27.99 all-you-can-eat while Kavas publishes nothing at all. Both restrict the deal to the bar area, so neither works for a large seated group.
